The police want to talk to me, what should I do?

Get legal advice promptly, and before you speak to the police. Making a statement to the police involves a number of issues that need to be carefully thought through prior to making a statement. What these issues are and other matters to consider can be discussed with reference to your particular situation.

How do you charge?

My charges are based on an hourly rate. The total cost of my legal defence services will depend on the type of problem a client has and as a consequence, the time it takes to resolve. I am happy to estimate the likely time and charges involved.

Do you take on Legal Aid criminal cases?

Yes. But because these cases are so poorly remunerated by the Legal Services Agency, I am careful to limit the number that I take on, just like many legal aid lawyers. Taking on too many is simply uneconomic.

Being a client that is in receipt of a grant of legal aid makes no difference to the job I do for that client.

What is an "instructing solicitor"?

This is the solicitor who formally instructs me and holds your fee in his trust account until your legal defence is performed by me. If you do not have your own solicitor, I can introduce you to one.
